LOS ANGELES, CA – Bobby Brown has pleaded not guilty to driving under the influence and other charges after being arrested in Los Angeles last month.

A DUI lawyer entered the pleas on Brown’s behalf on Monday. The 43-year-old singer and former husband of the late Whitney Houston was pulled over on March 26 in the San Fernando Valley for talking on his cell phone and when officers approached his vehicle, they suspected he was under the influence of alcohol.

Brown was then issued a field sobriety test, which he failed, and was taken into custody. He was later charged with three misdemeanors – DUI, driving with a blood alcohol content percentage above the legal limit of 0.08 and driving with a suspended license.

If convicted, Brown could face up to six months in jail.

Driving under the influence is a serious crime that can have life-long repercussions for those who are convicted. Not only can a DUI result in expensive fines, driver’s license suspension and even jail time, but a DUI conviction can also cause the guilty motorist to lose their job and certain civil rights.
