CHICAGO, IL – Two people were injured following a pickup truck crash on Monday night in Illinois.
According to officials, the truck crashed into an entrance at the CTA’s Red Line 87th Street station just above the Dan Ryan Expressway at around 9 p.m.
The pickup truck, which was heading west, jumped over a curb and crashed through the station’s glass double doors.
Chicago police explained the truck driver was suspected of having committed another offense right before the collision occurred. He was being held pending DUI charges by state authorities.
Two people were injured in the crash and were transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. One of the victims sustained serious-to-critical injuries while the second was listed in fair-to-serious condition.
Authorities have not explained whether the victims were inside the pickup truck or if they were CTA passengers.
A DUI, also known as a DWI, is a serious crime incurred when a motorist has been found operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or illicit drugs. If convicted, DUI offenders can face serious penalties, including expensive fines, the revocation of their driver’s license, and can even be sentenced to prison. Anyone who has been arrested for drunk driving should seek legal help immediately before it’s too late to contest the charges. If you have been arrested for DUI/DWI in Illinois, speak to a team of DUI lawyers immediately for help.
Illinois DWI attorneys work hard to reduce or possibly even clear you of your alcohol or drug-related charges. They will thoroughly investigate the incident and if they find that you were unjustly accused, your charges will likely be dropped altogether.
