Robert Jarquin, 25, rear-ended another vehicle at the intersection of East California and North Santa Fe Avenues just before 9:30 p.m. Thursday. He then proceeded to drive on North Santa Fe Avenue, making a right onto Nevada Avenue and then a right on North Citrus Avenue.
Jarquin then veered into oncoming traffic and crashed into a light pole in the 600 block of North Citrus Avenue.
The motorist in the vehicle that was rear-ended was transported to Tri-City Medical Center after complaining of back pain and is to be treated for minor injuries.
Jarquin was not injured in the collision and was booked into the Vista jail on suspicion of hit-and-run and driving under the influence. In addition, Jarquin faces a charge of driving without a license.
He is currently in custody on $100,000 bail and could be arraigned as early as Monday afternoon.
When a motorist is convicted of driving under the influence, their entire life can be drastically affected. A DUI conviction can cause a person to lose their job, be denied a new position and can even affect their lives financially. Even worse, the motorist can face legal punishments, including expensive fines, community service, license revocation, or worst of all, prison time.
Luckily though, DUI cases can be fought in court. If you have incurred a DUI charge, turn to a leading DUI lawyer immediately for assistance to ensure the best possible outcome for your case. DUI lawyers work diligently to fight for your rights and ensure your charges are either significantly reduced or wiped out altogether.
Having a leading DUI lawyer on your side means that every aspect of your case will be reviewed to determine if you were fairly charged. If your paralegal finds that there is insufficient evidence in your case or that you were unjustly accused of DUI, you can rest easy knowing that you will walk away from your case ahead.
