BALTIMORE, Maryland – Maryland State Police have charged a 25-year-old Frederick County man with DUI, assault, and endangerment following a road rage accident on Saturday, June 9.
The incident involved four vehicles on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway. At around 8:30 p.m., Cody James Hickerson was driving a Nissan Titan truck erratically heading south in Baltimore City when the driver of a Subaru Outback honked his horn. Hickerson then drove his vehicle into the passenger side of the Outback, and kept driving.
Hickerson then abruptly stopped the truck near the Waterview Avenue exit, and he and his passenger, Dylan Louis Mangini, 22, got out of the vehicle, approached the Subaru, and struck the car with their fists and knees.
The driver and passenger of a Pontiac GTO tried to assist the Outback driver and then all parties returned to their vehicles.
Things didn’t stop there, however. Hickerson and Mangini chased the Pontiac GTO, crashing into the rear end and passenger’s side of the vehicle and causing it to spin off the highway.
Hickerson then lost control of the truck, and the truck flipped over, landing on the hood of a Honda. Hickerson was ejected from the vehicle.
Hickerson and Mangini were transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where they were being treated for serious injuries.
Police found both opened and unopened alcoholic containers on the ground next to the truck. Hickerson faces three counts of first- and second-degree assault, drunk driving, malicious destruction of property and multiple traffic violations. Mangini faces second-degree assault and malicious destruction of property charges.
If you have been arrested for DUI in Maryland, turn to a DUI attorney immediately for help. Maryland DUI lawyers ensure your charges are either significantly reduced or wiped clean altogether.
