Home Improvement Star Arrested for DUI 300x232LOS ANGELES, CA – The youngest of the Taylor clan on the popular ‘90s sitcom “Home Improvement” is all grown up. So grown up in fact, that he managed to get himself arrested for driving under the influence in Los Angeles on Feb. 1.

Taran Noah Smith is anything but the sweet child star he used to be. The now 27-year-old was arrested on Feb. 1 around 1 a.m. in Los Angeles for driving under the influence and possession of drugs.

Authorities noticed Smith’s 1998 silver Honda Accord parked at an angle in front of a fire hydrant, still running, on the night of the arrest and thought it looked suspicious. When the officers approached the vehicle to investigate, they noticed Smith inside the car by himself. Police believed they smelled marijuana in the car and searched the vehicle. They then discovered a stash of hash, a type of marijuana.

Smith was then taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence of marijuana and possession of marijuana. He was taken to Glendale jail on $10,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court March 1.

Rodney King, LA riot figure, charged with intoxicated driving in Moreno Valley

Rodney King was charged with a DUI stemming from a July arrest. King became a household name after a video of him being brutally beaten by Los Angeles police surfaced. A widely publicized trial ensued, and when the officers were exonerated the LA riots followed.

King was travelling through Moreno Valley on July 12, when a police officer observed him committing “several traffic” violations. After questioning, the officer noticed King exhibiting signs of intoxication. King was asked to submit to field sobriety tests; he wasn’t cooperative with police at the time and was arrested.

King was taken to Moreno Valley Police Department for a test to determine what substance caused his intoxication. After his release, King told CNN that he was under the influence of medical marijuana but had not been drinking. A Riverside County DUI attorney can represent people arrested for driving under the influence of marijuana as well as alcohol.

Riverside County Sheriff spokeswoman, Courtney Donowho said, “His alcohol content exceeded the legal limit and he was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.” King, who has a previous DUI charge from 2004, faces up to a year in jail.

Multiple DUI offenders need a highly-skilled DUI attorney to defend the in court. Judges can treat intoxicated drivers very harshly.

The sentences for more than DUI often lead to time in jail and a loss of a driver’s license. To help reduce these penalties, offenders are encouraged to retain an accomplished DUI lawyer.
